Upcycled rope rugs and rope leashes of past adventures.
From strength training in the gym to multi-pitch trad in Yosemite, the ropes that I use for my crafts have been used all over the world for all different types of mountaineering and climbing adventures.
In any sport that requires ropes, eventually they have to be retired. Either it be due to overuse from catching falls or being pulled over ledges, or just from age. In my own life I had a rope that had been with me all over the world and retiring it by just throwing it away was not something that I wanted to do. So I wove it into a rug.
Now I have started making leashes that can be used on dogs, horses, cattle, etc.. I look forward to adding more products still.
The goal with Summits Past is to use upcycled material whenever possible. All of these ropes have saved people’s lives, that’s their job. But to keep them from being thrown into a landfill I wish to give them a new and longer life. The ropes that come from climbing gyms are used for the leashes and the ones from my fellow climbers are used for the rugs. (If you would like to donate feel free to contact me.)
If you have a rope that you would like commissioned into a rug let me know. We can go over design options and receive fifty dollars off for supplying the material.
Thank you for your patronage.

Warning: these ropes are retired and should never be used for climbing or rigging.
